Sustainability targets and management
The Stockmann Group’s divisions have ambitious sustainability targets, and sustainability is a central part of the operations throughout the Group.
Sustainability is part of daily management, meaning that it covers the entire value chain in our operations, from ensuring safe working conditions in the supply chain to minimising the negative environmental impacts of our operations.
We are constantly improving our operations
We are aware of the challenges in our sector and our operations. Though we have already implemented many measures to improve the responsibility and sustainability of our operations, we are not yet at the level that others expect of us and that we demand from ourselves.
Therefore, we are committed to doing our best to promote choices that support sustainable development. We want to further reduce our negative environmental impacts and strengthen social wellbeing throughout our operations.
How we manage and monitor sustainability
The Group’s CSR work is based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, our sustainability commitments and each division’s vision, strategy, values and the materiality analysis that is based on dialogue with our stakeholders.
The Group itself does not currently have a common sustainability strategy. The divisions’ sustainability strategies and materiality analyses are updated on average every 2–3 years and they are discussed with the Group’s Board as part of the strategy process. Implementation is monitored on a monthly, biannual or annual basis, depending on the topic. Sustainability risks are part of the company’s risk management process.
Stockmann and Lindex engage in continuous active dialogue with their stakeholders to strengthen relations and better respond to the expectations and wishes placed on the Group.

Our work is guided by the UNited nations Sustainable Development Goals
We are committed to supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in our operations. From the 17 goals, we have identified six SDGs which our business can best contribute to and which we focus our efforts on.
Responsible consumption and production
Corporate social responsibility forms a part of our operations. It is a key element in our supply chain, selections and logistics, and it informs our customers in their purchasing decisions. In addition, we strive to increase the use of more sustainable materials and processes in our own brand selections.
Decent work and economic growth
We act responsibly towards our employees and the people working in our supply chains. We offer our personnel a fair working environment and we aim to guarantee it in our supply chains as well. We strive for a profitable business.
Our contribution includes reducing emissions, increasing energy efficiency and carrying out waste sorting and recycling in our own operations.
Our contribution includes the active promotion of gender equality in all employment categories. Gender equality is at the core of Lindex’s Code of Conduct, which was introduced in 2019. Lindex aims to empower women everywhere by creating equal jobs, improving women’s self-esteem, encouraging women to value and respect their bodies and motivating them to lead a sustainable lifestyle.

Our contribution includes active collaboration and engagement with our key stakeholder groups. We believe that together we can drive change towards a more sustainable future.
Clean water and sanitation
Our business can make a significant contribution to the goal concerning clean water and sanitation. One of the core aims of Lindex’s sustainability promise is to be a responsible company in relation to water use. The company is increasing the efficiency of water consumption throughout its value chain.

Stockmann’s sustainability strategy will guide us towards more resource-wise retail business through environmental sustainability, ethical responsibility and collaboration, and profitable and responsible business.
The Stockmann Group has a whistle-blowing channel provided by an external partner, which employees, partners and other stakeholders can use to anonymously report any suspected or detected violations of the Code of Conduct or other Group policies.
