STOCKMANN GROUP'S SALES IN SEPTEMBER 2006

STOCKMANN plc STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE October 10, 2006, at 9.00

STOCKMANN GROUP'S SALES IN SEPTEMBER 2006

The Stockmann Group's sales in September were EUR 121.2 million. Consolidated sales, eliminating the Zara business in Russia that was divested as from January 1, 2006, and the Stockmann Auto business that was transferred to new owners on March 1, 2006, were up 7 per cent.

The best sales growth in September was reported by the Department Store Division, up 11 per cent. Sales were up 5 per cent in Finland and 31 per cent abroad. Sales in Finland were lifted by the new department store that was opened in the Jumbo shopping centre in Vantaa in October 2005. In international operations the like-for-like growth was strong in all market areas. Sales were further lifted by the expansion of the Bestseller chain in Russia.

Seppälä's sales were up 3 per cent. Sales in Finland were down 5 per cent on the previous year while they were up 46 per cent abroad. Both Seppälä's and the Department Store Division's clothing business was still affected by the exceptionally warm weather in September, but sales picked up clearly in the last week of the month. The strong growth in Seppälä's sales abroad is attributable to both the strong like-for-like growth and the expansion of the store network in Russia and the Baltic countries.

Hobby Hall's sales were down 5 per cent. In Finland sales were down 5 per cent on the previous year while in the international operations they were down 2 per cent.
