THE STOCKMANN GROUP'S MONTHLY SALES IN OCTOBER HIT THE ALL TIME RECORD

In October, the Stockmann Group's sales amounted to EUR 197.9 million, up 15.0 per cent. The consolidated monthly sales in October were the Group's best ever and consequently exceeded the sales in December 2004. Sales increased clearly in all divisions.

The best percentual sales growth was reported by Hobby Hall whose sales were up 27 per cent. Hobby Hall's sales grew by 30 per cent in Finland and by 14 per cent outside Finland despite the withdrawal from Lithuania during the first part of the year. The good growth in sales was attributable to successful marketing campaigns and their timing which differed from the previous year.

The Department Store Division's sales were up 17 per cent. Sales grew by 9 per cent in Finland and by 46 per cent abroad. The good sales growth was based on the very successful Crazy Days campaign in Finland and in the Baltic countries, the new department store opened in Moscow in December 2004, and the growth in the network of stores as well as the good like-for- like growth in all the market areas. The department store that was opened in the Jumbo shopping centre in Vantaa and got off to an excellent start contributed to the sales figures in Finland for five days in October.

Seppälä's sales increased by 8 per cent. In Finland, sales were up 1 per cent and outside Finland up 59 per cent. The tough growth in the sales abroad was attributable to the growth in the network of stores and the strong like-for-like growth in all the market areas.

Stockmann Auto's sales grew by 7 per cent. Additional Ford dealership was launched at the Tampere outlet in October.
