Stockmann has signed a letter of intent with world famous Hamleys, the oldest toy shop in the world, to open in Stockmann’s Helsinki flagship premises as a tenant. The store will open in November 2015 on the department store’s 6th floor and will offer an unprecedented selection of toys, opportunities for children to play, amazing toy demonstrations as well as regular experiences. Hamleys and Stockmann are looking into cooperation possibilities in Stockmann’s other department stores in Finland from 2016 onwards.
“We are very proud to introduce Hamleys to our customers. Hamleys is a legend in its field and the new store and unique concept will bring new experiences and fun for both children and their parents,” said Björn Teir, Director of Real Estate at Stockmann.
Stockmann is implementing its agreed strategy by complementing the Group’s own offering with attractive goods and services from tenants in order to enhance customer experience. Stockmann began its cooperation with Hamleys back in summer 2014 in Russia, where a Hamleys toy shop was opened in the Nevsky Centre in St Petersburg. The launch of the first Hamleys shop in Finland at Stockmann is a continuation of this successful partnership.
“We are very excited to be partnering with Stockmann to bring the magic of the Hamleys brand to the children and families of Finland” said Alasdair Dunn, Deputy CEO of Hamleys.
For 255 years Hamleys of London has been The Finest Toy Shop in the World bringing magical experiences and joy to children of all ages. Hamleys' rich history began with William Hamley, a Cornishman from Bodmin, England. William Hamley dreamed of the best toy shop in the world when opening his toy shop at Holborn, London in 1760.
In 2015, Hamleys, as a global brand, extends significantly further than the famous London toy shop. Hamleys currently trades across 17 countries with 11 stores in the UK & Ireland and 44 international stores.
