THE STOCKMANN GROUP'S SALES IN JUNE 2005

STOCKMANN plc STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE July 11, 2005, at 11.00

THE STOCKMANN GROUP'S SALES IN JUNE 2005

The Stockmann Group's sales in June were EUR 142.6 million, up 7.4 per cent on last year's figure.

The best sales increase in June was reported by Seppälä, which has enjoyed great success so far this year and was up 23 per cent. Seppälä's sales in Finland grew by 20 per cent as against 48 per cent abroad. The strong increase in Seppälä's sales abroad was attributable to the growth of the store network in the Baltic countries and in Russia as well as the sound increase in the like-for-like sales in the international market areas.

The Department Store Division's sales in June were up 14 per cent. Sales in Finland grew by 10 per cent as against 32 per cent abroad. The strong growth in sales in Finland was affected by the fact that the seasonal sale began two days earlier than last year. The strong increase in sales outside Finland was due to the growth of the network of stores in Russia, the new department store that was opened in Moscow in December as well as the solid growth in like-for-like sales in all the international market areas.

Hobby Hall's sales were up 4 per cent on the previous year, with an increase of 1 per cent in Finland and 27 per cent abroad. The increase in sales was attributable to a change in the timetabling of catalogue distribution both in Finland and abroad.

Stockmann Auto's total sales were down 6 per cent on the previous year. The decrease in sales was due entirely to the transfer of the Volkswagen-Audi dealership in Herttoniemi to Kesko Corporation on July 1, 2004. Not including the figures for the Herttoniemi dealership, like-for-like sales grew by 19 per cent.
