STOCKMANN GROUP SALES IN AUGUST 2009
In August, the Stockmann Group's sales in continuing operations amounted
to EUR 160.2 million, down by 12.6 per cent on August 2008. Stockmann
Group's euro-denominated sales were affected by the clearly weaker Swedish
krona, Norwegian krone and Russian rouble in comparison to sales in August
2008.
Hobby Hall's sales in the Baltic countries have practically ceased in
August, based on earlier informed decision to close the operations.
Therefore, from August onwards Hobby Hall's reported sales will consist of
sales in Finland only. In the enclosed table Hobby Hall's sales abroad
(the Baltic countries and Russia) are presented separately as so-called
discontinued operations from the beginning of 2009 onwards.
The Department Store Division's sales declined by 16.0 per cent; 15.1 per
cent in Finland and 18.5 per cent abroad. Sales trend in the department
stores in the Baltic countries continued to be weak. Rouble-denominated
sales in the Russian department stores increased by 13 per cent. In
Russia, there is one department store more than in August 2008.
Lindex's sales in local currencies were on a par with the previous year.
Lindex's euro-denominated sales were down 7.8 per cent; up 3.6 per cent in
Finland and down 9.3 per cent abroad.
In Seppälä, sales were down 11.1 per cent. Sales declined by 9.1 per cent
in Finland and 14.4 per cent abroad. Sales trend in the Baltic countries
was clearly weaker than in other markets. In Russia, Seppälä's rouble-
denominated sales increased by 19 per cent.
Hobby Hall's sales in Finland were down 12.2 per cent.
