Environmental policy

Stockmann's environmental policy covers the operations of the Stockmann Group in all its countries of operation. Responsibility is one of the Stockmann Group's core values and a basis for the company's environmental work. The environmental policy complements the Group's corporate social responsibility strategy and is in line with the corporate social responsibility policy. The environmental policy outlines the principles and procedures of Stockmann's environmental work and explains environmental management.

Principles and procedures of environmental work

We identify the environmental impacts of our business operations and develop our operations according to the principles of sustainable development and our customer wishes. We strive to prevent adverse effects from our own operations and from the products and services that we use during the life cycle of these products and services. Our goal is to curb climate change and encourage sustainable consumption.

The most significant environmental impacts of our operations are caused by the emissions from our deliveries, energy consumption and waste. We minimise these by optimising deliveries, improving energy efficiency and with efficient sorting and recycling of waste. We actively develop our procedures together with our partners.

Environmental management

Our operations meet the requirements of legislation and the authorities. Environmental issues are organised as part of the divisions' management. The Department Store Division also operates under the ISO 14001 certified environmental system. The implementation of the environmental goals and targets that have been set and the procedures that have been agreed is measured and monitored to ensure the principles of continuous improvement.

We require each employee to commit to the achievement of our shared goals and targets. We maintain our employees' environmental awareness with continuous training and regular information. We openly provide information on environmental issues to customers and other stakeholders.
